100 MPs in Somalia have signed a motion to raise their pay.

 


Warar Online: MOGADISHU A motion requesting a raise in their pay was signed by at least 100 members of the Somalian parliament, according to the Caasimada Online news website on Saturday.

In order to maintain transparency in the spending of the legislature, the Ministry of Finance withdrew $1,100 set aside to assist MPs in paying their bodyguards.

MPs have been getting $3000 salaries without any additional benefits for the past few months.

The Ministry of Finance's action has infuriated MPs, who now want to enhance their compensation despite efforts by the current administration to stop them from moving forward with the speaker-submitted resolution.

Federal member states were miffed by the new Somali Finance Minister's earlier decisions, and their finance ministers stated suspending cooperation with the federal government
